Grantham Rail Show 2015

It's on the exhibition calendar but, as the headline act (gulp!), may I be permitted to start this thread (as I can't find a thread otherwise)

Small / friendly / local show, with good access straight off the A1. Also a 'classic' bus service from the railway station on the Saturday.

Be good to see you there!

  • 2 weeks later...

I will have a Heljan pre-production Tango with me which suitable OO layouts are welcome to try out.

Look forward to seeing the pre-production O2. Think I might be able to suggest a suitable layout to give it a try out on...

I wonder which layout that will be then!.........................as long as you don't mind it in BR late crest livery although I will be able to bring along a couple of LNER liveried body onlys without the fittings to show you. Also if you need any help then I'm sure my son and I will be able to give you some assistance.

Bump.

Just a week to go now. Get there if you can and enjoy the show - even if the enjoyment derives only from watching a certain layout's operators struggling to do their jobs.

Things have obviously improved since that shot was taken.

Thoroughly enjoyed the show,,, congratulations to the "Grantham Crew"  for giving me a definite burst of ECML enthusiasm which suddenly hit me at around 10.30 this morning.

The important thing is the layout is now on the circuit and will obviously improve as time moves on & everyone becomes aware of what is expected or happening,,,, but,,, it is already very impressive as it is.

Liked:

1. the look of a certain J6 [with a very fresh aroma] which was wandering round picking up the pieces behind my technicolour D9,,Graeme tks 4 that.

2. Heljan's 02,,, very impressive and will be even better when it is available with my preferred GNR cab.

3. Sutton,,,, "the Gortonaura" was nearly as impressive as the slow running and superb pointwork,, wonderful layout,, nice prototype,, clever fiddle yard.

4. Jonathans rakes of early 6 wheel coaches,,,

5. The way operators on all layouts took time to speak to the paying public,,,,, ore-some.

6. Baz,,, you are definitely better in the flesh than your avatar,,, mind you so am I,,, & good to meet you.

Congratulations to all concerned and I hope you made a profit and/or got home safely.

Regards,

SAD :sadclear:

Exhibition was thoroughly worth the 6.30am get up. Enjoyed meeting some old aquaintances and friends, Already in the very good category Grantham will be easily able to rival some of the other well known ECML large layouts, Sutton I have seen before and was most pleased to see it again. It's not often one sees a medium to large terminus layout and especially one that ran as well as this one does. Some good subtle weathering on both of these layouts. Excellent.

I had a very good time at the show over the weekend. We were well looked after by the Grantham Society, the food was good and tea flowed. The selection of layouts was excellent; Grantham and Sutton have already been mentioned, but Farkham and Avn a Llyin stood out for their quality, innovation and presentation. Well done everyone. I hope the weekend worked out positively for the society.
