Stringfingerling
Does anyone know what would be the likely painting scheme in use for my fictional station: (link to plan). It's based on Llanbrynmair, immediately post-war, pre-nationalisation, probably quite run-down. Photos (b/w) from the '30s suggest the use of black and white on window framing - how does that fit in with GWR painting specifications? Were these specs followed strictly? Thanks in advance. Marshall5
According to "Great Western Way" building colours were standardized from before 1880. The shades, hand mixed on site could vary considerably but were officially termed Stone No.2 and Stone No3. More commonly referred to as light and dark stone, one was a pale grey (ish) shade, the other a sort of buff. I believe the colours may be available from either Railmatch or Precision. Hope this helps. Ray.
