Fat Controller
They were originally GUV vans, and were converted to act as adaptor wagons between locomotives fitted with screw-couplings and the Scharfenberg-equipped Eurostar stock. A pair was stationed at Dolland's Moor, and others at North Pole. When CTRL opened (sorry, I can't get used to calling it HS1), Eurotunnel took over responsibility for moving Eurostar's stock between the French portal and St Pancras, using the fleet of Krupp Bo-Bos normally used for engineering work. This fleet was enlarged using some ex-NS locos of similar lineage. As the Eurotunnel locos were already fitted with the Scharfenberg couplings, the adaptor wagons were disposed of. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted November 30, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 30, 2015 A pair also lived at Clapham Jcn yard for sometime along with a couple of E* Class 37s and they were also hired out to other operators, particularly Heathrow Express (working with Eurostar Class 37s), and one also got to Heathrow Airport with a Eurostar set. darrel
They were also used for moving class 333s during testing they visited Skipton, ilkley and Foster square. Normal traction was a class 37 though a 56 did make an appearance at foster square. Pity no one makes a
