sub39h
Hi guys - I find the different number of Hornby Pullmans totally bewildering. I've been wanting a set since I was a child with a train set though! I already have a rake of Bachmann Mk1 Pullmans (and very nice they are), but I would like a Hornby set as well. Which ones (if any) would be correct for railtours in the 1990s? Thanks
Merfyn Jones
Pullmans on railtours in the 90s were usually the Bachmann parlour seconds, no's 347-353. The Orient Express was a complete Pullman set not normally used for railtours but was a mix of types which may or may not be in the Hornby range. RMweb Gold The Fatadder Posted December 9, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 9, 2015 VSOE used a couple of Pullmans in Hornbys range, although they were heavily modified, I can't remember early 90s formation, but the set I had planned to model for 1998 used 1951 build modified with oval toilet windows. This can be modelled from the original high spec Hornby model, ex Brighton bell inner coaches (re bogies with modern bogies) and the newest Hornby Pullmans (but with a completely rebuilt chassis. There are a couple of very good threads containing much more info, I think I've written about it before but can't remember if it's on my modern blog on this iteration of rmweb. If you are interested I can try and dig out some more info
