jcredfer
That 6 t crane is intreguing, as most of the hardware has wheels and that one is designed to operate in a static position. I had a good look and there is little to be seen that looks like a foot-bridge kit. It has quite a span and most times I have seen anything like that, {having actually seen very few, it has to be said!} the system was to bring the span in by rail and crane it up from there. However, they are pretty good on their timing and the crane has it's orange-clad computer present and ready to go and they tend to wander off on their own, if left unoccupied. Having said that, there should be an / some item{s} lying around, which need to be hoisted by a static crane. Could it be some parts for fixing the transition of the cliff steps to the steps rising from the span of the bridge, up where they were spraying the trees with concrete earlier? Fat Controller
They've been cracking on since your last visit, David. We were up there between 14:00 and 15:00, and all the geotextile is covered with ballast- ballasting has reached as far as the portals, with a tracked dozer levelling each load the dumpers bring. RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted August 14, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 14, 2016 I thinks I've finally worked out what the three square platforms are for on the columns. Dover is obviously going to bid for the next Olympics and they are the platforms for the diving, only to be used at High Tide. Jamie

RMweb Gold unravelled Posted August 14, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 14, 2016 What happened to the little red cranelet? Might it be for work in the relatively confined space of the tunnels, or has it been safely stored away in a container. I did wonder if it was small enough to be craned on to the beach, perhaps to work on the culvert. Thanks for the continuing photos Dave
