GWR8700
Hi, I've got a question about the Lancashire and Yorkshire Class 5 locomotives. Does anyone know which ones were capable of pulling push-pull trains? I've seen that some were fitted but I can't find any information on which ones were. Marshall5
The best source is Barry Lane's "Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway locomotives" - excellent book with lots of clear photos and drawings. I got mine from Book Law at less than half price. P60-61 lists those fitted in LMS days but the gear was swapped around particularly in BR days as locos were withdrawn. My '0' scale radial 50647 is not actually listed as motor fitted as it was quite a late conversion and used on the Horwich motor trains until 1959. What time period are you modelling and form is your loco in? Belpaire or round-top? Long or short bunker? Original or extended smokebox? With a bit more info I might be able to come up with some numbers for you. Cheers, Ray.

They both appear to be round topped and have longer bunkers. I don't know about the smokebox though.
Marshall5
Both the 'Radials' you mention are the short bunker/short smokebox variants. I can't find any evidence to suggest either were ever motor fitted unfortunately. If you want a motor fitted one I think you'll have re-number your loco if it's a Bachmann model. Cheers, Ray.
