westie7
Can anyone offer some advice please? I have just bought a handfull of Chivers ZCA's and now need wheels couplings and transfers. Wheels I've found quite easily from Parkside Dundas, couplings and transfers not so simple, unless I'm looking in the wrong place! I want to use standard N gauge couplings but did wonder if anyone has yet made an aftermarket NEM pocket. I am open to suggestions on coupling pockets and transfers. Cheers Mark Hi For couplings try Peco NR-102 available from most modelshops. You get enough couplings in a pack to do two wagons for about £1.30. I bought mine from Gaugemaster. RMweb Premium Steven B Posted March 5, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 5, 2010 Hi For couplings try Peco NR-102 available from most modelshops. You get enough couplings in a pack to do two wagons for about £1.30. I bought mine from Gaugemaster. I think these were the type that were originally included in the Chivers kits. I've bought them from BHE and N Gauge Lines in the past but as they're a standard Peco item any model shop should be able to get hold of them for you. I've yet to see anyone selling an aftermarket NEM pocket. Fox Transfers do blank/make your own TOPS panels and the OHLE warning stickers. Don't think you need much else for the OCA/ZCA. Happy modelling, Steven B.

Happy modelling, Steven B. I see there is a reference in the kits to suggest they came with couplings at one time, I have ordered Peco couplings and Fox Transfers and I think I'll get a set of the scalemodeltransfers sets to see how they are. I've never had so much fun with modelling as I have with all these varied N gauge kits, and I can't keep up. The stash so far is 1 MODA PFA in progress, 2 Polybulks, 2 FPA's and 3 ZCA's. RMweb Premium finelines Posted March 5, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 5, 2010 Assuming these were from the Transport Models eBay shop, I think they would have been able to supply the Peco coupling and Farish wheels. Roger ps N gauge modellers might find it worth their while to keep an eye on this site.

You've still got plenty to go at - I started a list of N Gauge kits suitable for post 1960s modelling; I lost interest in keeping it up to date but had well over 100 wagons listed. Happy modelling. Steven B. Almost finished the second PFA and the first Polybulk, which seems to be sitting a bit high compared to the Farish VGA and PCA. But it was a dream to build. Once I've put the finishing touches to the Polybulk it will go on my Fotopic. Rgds Mark
