stewartingram
Been sifting through some boxes in the garage, and came across this wagon made from a plastic kit. Can anybody id it please?
iak
Its an L&Y beastie; Dia 73 I think. A very old and very odd kit with those planks being raised rather than grooves. Cannae remember the make however but I thinks it is of a 1970's vintage
Fenway Park
This looks similar to the MAJ series of Lancashire and Yorkshire wagon kits from the late 1970s. I could be wrong.

Phil Traxson
Almost certainly a MAJ kit of an L&Y van. I have several of their kits for L&Y vehicles, this sliding door van, another with canvas roof doors, a 1 plank wagon, a 4 plank double end door wagon, high sided coke wagon and I believe they did a motor car van as well, without searching through my 4mm stock I'm not sure whether I have that one or not. The method of representing planks may be weird but doesn't seem to notice when painted. The brake gear is superb and complete, probably the best I've seen on any 4mm kit, because they only did one plastic sprue for all the vehicles and there were two lengths of underframe you got almost two chassis per kit as well. Metal buffer heads and decent wheels with brass pinpoint bearings included as well. Very good kits in their day, apart from the planking probably as good as any of todays plastic wagon kits IMHO, certainly ahead of their time for the 1970's. Phil T. stewartingram
Thanks for the speedy replies, at least I now know what it is! Think it might make a useful addition to the breakdown train project anyway.
