Guest TomTank
Morning all Just wondered if anyone knew who (if anyone) supplies OO Great Northern Nameplates with the GNR Crest. Fox Transfers don't, I belive King's Cross Nameplate might, but my Mac won't let me view their catalogue. Cheers Tom
Hammer
If you don't have a copy of Microsoft Office to read the excel files with, I'd recommend downloading Open Office for Mac. It's free and gives you a version of Excell, which can be used to read King's Cross' catalogue. While I use Pages and Numbers for everyday stuff, I do get sent things that are in .doc and .xls format, so it's worth keeping two bits of software around. Edit: just realised that their latest version doesn't seem to have a British English version - you can find the US English version on this page if you scroll down and look it up in the table. Cheers, I got the catalogue up I can't really understand it properly, as there are alot of random numbers, also I can see 2mm, 3mm and 7mm listed but oddly no 4mm Tom
alcazar
As far as I know, the crest was painted, so a nameplate with a transfer is correct. I did this some years ago in 4mm scale, but cannot remember where the crests came from. You could have a pair made?

alcazar
Sorry, I can't answer that, I never liked King's Cross plates due to the difficulties of shaping them. My Great Northern plate came from the now sold CGW range, iirc, and the transfer, I can't remember where it came from, it was waterslide, is the only thing that sticks in my mind, over 25 years since I made the deflectors and fixed the plates. Guest TomTank
Ah right, thanks Alcazar Anyone no of any other nameplate makers who do the Great Northern nameplate and crest? Cheers Tom
60526
Not the answer you want perhaps but I asked the same question on the previous forum. Modelmasters make the nameplate but it doesn't come with the crest. Ironically we found a photo of the loco, and it had the nameplate, but it didn't have the crest, so the model is going to run in that guise. Also asked Tony Wright and he managed to get his mate Ian Rathbone to paint the crest onto his nameplate. Regards Charlie
Guest notascoobie
Hi, Try Guilplates 32 Wodeland Avenue, Guildford, Surrey GU2 5JZ Tel 01483 565980 email guilplate@globalnet.co.uk. I've seen their catalogue and they list several incarnations of "Great Northern" including BR without specifying which nameplate. Good luck. Regards, vernon
DavidBelcher
I've just found this, which seems to imply that Jackson-Evans do make the appropriate plates but that the crest is presumably in black on brass as with the rest of the plate rather than in full colour; http://www.modelmasterdecals.com/ThompsonA1_462.php David

landscapes
Thanks very much Vernon, I have sent them an email, Will let you know what's said Tom Tom I recently purchased a set of nameplates for 60161 North British from Modelmaster with the top circular section to the nameplate and crest which is very similar to 60113 Great Northern which were fitted in May 1951 with the GNR crest. The quality of the name plates are fantastic it comes in three sections. 1/ the main nameplate. 2/ The circular disk which fits the face of the nameplate. 3/ The Decal crest which is a water slide transfer. Very easy to assemble, but do not use super glue, use a two part adhesive such as Araldite a small smear on o cocktail stick does the job. If you have any queries just ring Jim at Modelmaster on 01292 289770, he is very helpful. You can order on line or place and order over the phone and use your plastic friend. Good luck. landscapes
Tom You might be correct, I am looking at the modelmaster catalogue now and the nameplates that come with the decal crest are £8.05 a pair and the ones for Great Northern are £5.75 which is the normal price. If you call Jim after 10:00am he will confirm and might know where you can obtain the crest transfer. How did you hear about the Hornby A3 60043 Brown Jack locomotive?
