lofty1966
I have acquired (ended up with) a K's whitemetal LNWR D385 Full Brake Coach. Question I have is, can I utilise it on my GWR layout or should I sell it on ? It's currently painted as a GWR all brown vehicle but I can always paint it to correct livery. Depends on where your layout is modelled on, NPCS were historically usually through worked. Not quite the same as wagons, which could theoretically end up anywhere, but parcels stock often had dedicated routes. Sometimes two companies might share the traffic, as the service ran over both lines, with stock alternating on different days. So up to you, unless your layout is a somewhat minor branch. lofty1966
I have based my layout plan on Ledbury but it is free form. Rule one will be applied
RMweb Gold Argos Posted April 9, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 9, 2016 Hi Lofty, The LNWR had regular parcels and mail routes exchanging NPCS stock with both the Rhymney and Cambrian Railways into South Wales. The trains being made up of stock form both companies. There is an appendix at the back of David Jenkinson's LNWR Carriages book showing a snap shot working on a particular day. The appearance of an LNWR Full brake in the area you describe would probably not be unusual. Of course the blasphemy of painting it GWR brown must be corrected...........
