RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted April 18, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 18, 2016 The internet is your friend. Details of what is available at many (?all) stations are readily available on the 'net and this includes small stations with only a single platform; click on 'station map'. http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations_destinations/PLY.aspx PS once you have enlarged the map try running your cursor over it and you will find some pictures to go with the map details. I find this seems to even work at branchline stations with a single platform, e.g. - http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/mlw/details.html

modfather
There's likely to be a freight one too...
RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted April 18, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 18, 2016 There's likely to be a freight one too... Only one set of lift shafts visible on Google Earth. But I thought that there were parcels/mail lifts as well.
RMweb Premium Siberian Snooper Posted April 18, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 18, 2016 Only one set of lift shafts visible on Google Earth. But I thought that there were parcels/mail lifts as well. The lifts used to be on the parcels side of the passenger tunnel, but in recent years this side has been opened too the public and allows DDA compliance, plus there is no longer any parcels traffic. Exactly so - as at a number of other stations the lifts at Plymouth are those which were originally there for parcels and Mails traffic and have been upgraded for passenger use with former parcels etc access areas in the subway opened for passenger use. For example a similar situation applies at Cardiff Central.
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted April 18, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 18, 2016 Presumably these are the lifts which, under maintenance or repair, caused the re-platforming that ended up with two trains coming together so recently?
