Not my cup of tea either, but whenever something of his comes on the radio I'm propelled back to the early 80s when I lived in the US for a couple of years. He seemed to be on the radio all the time, memories of the long drives to the beautiful Eastern North Carolina coast on the weekend.

For an all time Prince musical blowout, listen to Three Chains O' Gold. And turn the volume up to 11.

It is probably one of the most pretentious and self indulgent pieces of music ever recorded, and for that reason alone it is brilliant.

Maybe he isn't dead, just the victim of a hoax?

Let's hope so.

John.

My sincere apologies, it is now widely reported that he has in fact, actually died.

I do hope I didn't cause any offence with my earlier post, I was going off what my wife had been reading and my own separate search yielded apparent confirmation. Sadly, it wasn't the case that it was a hoax, sorry.

Sadly the world has lost yet another huge talent, R.i.P. Prince, we'll miss you.

John.

Another legend has left the stage, a multi-talented entertainer who covered many musical genres, and excellent guitarist who backed many big names, singer, songwriter, musical producer, film actor, film producer, and only a few have outsold his recordings.

An extremely talented songwriter, and musician.

Am so glad I was able to take my 16 year old son to see him a few months ago here in Perth.  That was just the man, and a piano.  But he could also make a guitar cry and wail, too:

Perhaps not everyone's cup of Tetleys, but without doubt, his passing is a great loss to music.

I reckon the docs at the hospital he attended a few days ago are pooin' their pants, if it turns out they discharged him.  :O  (Assuming of course that the P.M. finds his death linked to that earlier episode)
