GeoffBird
Can anyone tell me whether the Hornby model R146 is the same as that used in "The Master Cutler" Train set? I seem to have read somewhere that Hornby produced two or three versions of 60052 in blue over a period of years.
steviesparx
My example of 'Prince Palatine' was from the 'Master Cutler' premier set - it was Chinese made and the motor was loco mounted ( like present A3 chassis)... A quick search suggests that R146 was manufactured mid 90's, before Chinese manufacturing began and most certainly tender driven. http://www.hornbyguide.com/catalogue_number_details.asp?catno=R.146 Hattons refer to one as being Ringfield powered which again suggests tender driven rather than the later Chinese example .http://www.ehattons.com/14595/Hornby_R146_Class_A3_4_6_2_60052_Prince_Palatine_in_BR_Blue/StockDetail.aspx R146 probably refers to this earlier Margate example - the 'Master Culter' example may not have an individual 'R' number as it was part of a train set and not available separately?
