shortliner
Saw this on Farcebook and thought our members might be interested - also wonder if Shapeways and similar companies may be interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elmx-suesKE&feature=player_embedded . It will be looking for kickstarter launch in May apparently. I predict a lot of interest in the product which is sculptable at very low temperatures
rue_d_etropal
Looks interesting. Suspect Shapeways will look at it. In some ways it is probably better to market it at those people with their own 3D printers as in the video. It could also work as a way of only having to produce a basic generic figure model, which can then be modified. It is a great idea, complimenting other ideas for 3D printing. Ideal for those who find it difficult to make figures but can easily adapt them. It would not just have to be for 3D printing though, if you could just buy the basic figures and the material to add to them.
Giles
It sounds very similar to wax (as in lost-wax casting) which they have been 3D printing for some time. Certainly the characteristics of the material that they are describing (so far) are much the same. It will be interesting to see if there are any significant differences - such as the ability to take paint. We'll see.
rue_d_etropal
I was thinking similar with respect to paint, and thought it might make a good half way stage, creating a master, which could then be scanned, and 3D printed in any material, even resized.
