Hornby/Lima class 37

Recommended Posts

hi every on. i need a little help here please.

I have a lime class 37 body that i want to fit onto a Hornby railroad class 37 chassis. now finding a class 37 chassis is impossible without buying the whole locomotive.

Now i seen this post where he mods his Lima class 31 chassis and uses a railroad class 37 drive unit.

so by this logic if i change out the smaller wheel in a class 31 drive unit i could use one of those for my 37..... yes/no ???

I guess as long as it fits the bogie frame and the wheels line up with the axle boxes were good right ??

I don't want to double motor it just a singe unit will do. so all that's needed is to build the frame to support the drive unit in the space where the original lime motor is

yes very true the problem i am having is difficulty is getting the chassis as every where is sold out and i really dont want to buy a complete loco. so im thinking of modifying the lima chassis to take a railroad motor. i just need a suitable motor replacer as even the railroad 37 motors are sold out too. i have managed to get the motor bogie frame "woohoo" am going to try and see if the drive unit from my RR 31 drive unit fits the 37 frame. if it does then we're onto a winner.
