colin@gorleston
Hi folks, Somewhere in the past I saw a layout that I want to emulate. It's a double track mainline with what I assume are refuge sidings and a signal box.....a simple concept, but one which ticks the right boxes for me. Does anyone recall the name of it? I've trawled back through 40 or so pages in the layout topics but just can't seem to find it. Equally, trying the search function has yielded nothing. Probably the result of using the wrong words. RMweb Premium Mark Forrest Posted May 22, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 22, 2016 What era was the layout you were thinking of? Might help narrow it down a bit.
colin@gorleston
That's the one Nick.....thank you both for taking the time to reply. Now planning can go ahead for my new layout using Stoke Summit for inspiration
colin@gorleston
And now having read the article, I'm trembling in my boots..........how on earth is a mere mortal supposed to do justice to a model built by Tony Wright and his friends from Wolverhampton MRC ? colin@gorleston
Actually neither, Mark. What I want to model is part of the Yarmouth Beach/Southtown to Liverpool street before it was lifted. The two track plans are very similar, albeit Stoke Summit has an extra siding. The reason I chose this location......I've tried modeling stations ( Gorleston and Sheringham) but was always constricted by space or lack of, and while I enjoyed the building of them, I didn't in fact enjoy operating them. Therefore I chose something that will be scenically challenging...a scratch built swing bridge over river, that when finished will allow me to just sit back and watch a procession of big trains rolling by with the occasional banking engine or slow goods to spice things up a bit. RMweb Premium Mark Forrest Posted May 22, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 22, 2016 Sounds an interesting project. The point I was making is that rather than comparing yours to another layout it might be better to judge it by comparing the layout to location you want to recreate. Good luck with it.
