RMweb Premium kevinlms Posted May 22, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 22, 2016 Bit of a slow day at the office, but you just never know where they will turn up. Box Yards Road between Ivanhoe and Booligal (about 100km north-west of Hay in New South Wales).
Poor Old Bruce
I wonder how much 'passing traffic' is expected in the middle of nowhere.
Devo63
Perfect place to set up an RBT! No side streets for anyone to turn off and avoid being stopped. A few of the traffic guys I used to work with would really appreciate it. Dave R
RMweb Gold SHMD Posted May 22, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 22, 2016 Nothing to stop you turning off road at all! Kev. (Bit obvious though...)
RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted May 22, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 22, 2016 Only knowing the stereotypical image of Australian beer drinkers, what's the limit, 50/50? Mike.
34theletterbetweenB&D
Bit of a slow day at the office, but you just never know where they will turn up... Your state spends money on traffic policing a location where a tarmac or concrete surface cannot be afforded? That would be an interesting question to put to your national or state statistical office: what incurs the greater cost to society, unsurfaced roads, or the occasional drunk driving across a field? RMweb Gold ikks Posted May 23, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 23, 2016 We had a new officer in our district( country South Australia) a few years ago and apparently he was mystified by all the headlights travelling on the dirt roads well away from the main road late at night. The following Saturday night he set up on one of the back roads, shortly afterwards many of the locals were seen walking, something many of them had not been observed doing in the past!!........so the story goes Rgds....Mike

The child was harmlessly asleep in a tent at the time. Alcohol and driving are never a good combo, wherever it occurs
Kickstart
Hi When we were in Aus years ago the police seemed to be very hot on what could be easily objectively measured. Such as speeding and drink driving. But they seemed to pay zero attention to things that could only be checked subjectively, and around Melbourne the drivers might have been slow but we're pretty much asleep and paying zero attention (except the taxis who were frighteningly aggressive). All the best Katy

RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted May 23, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 23, 2016 Do they breathtest? Or do they get drivers to show that they can slalom between the cones without knocking them down?
Horsetan
.... do they get drivers to show that they can slalom between the cones without knocking them down? Surely drunk drivers have an unfair advantage in that sort of task since they are already weaving drunk?
