Ben04uk
Does anyone know if any of the Class 25s which got transferred to Cornwall in the early 1970s operated in Two Tone Green Livery? If so, does anyone know which numbers? I've had a look at the excellent http://www.derbysulzers.com/ website but can't find anything.
jonny777
I have yet to find a two-tone green photo of a Laira allocated 25, but I did find this of an all-over green D7574 there in 1972. http://www.class25.info/photograph_pages/individual_photos/721028_25224_Laira.htm

br2975
This weeks' household disaster (well for me, not her) was the crash of my HDD. . Therefore, the best I can provide is from some scrawled handwritten notes. . (D)7508 was transferred from the LMR to Laira as and from 08/01/1972 and was sighted in GFYE at Bristol in Feb. 1972, and on shed at Laira 02/06/1972 in GFYE. IN GFYE it's boiler grille was plated over. . (D)7518 transferred LMR to Ebbw Jct. on the same date was still in GFYE with'D' prefix when photographed at Ebbw Jct. on 27/05/1973. This loco's boiler grille was not plated over. . (D)7511 was transferred from the LMR to Ebbw Jct as and from 08/01/1972 and was in GFYE livery, and it's boiler grille was plated over. . (D)7512 was transferred from the LMR to Ebbw Jct as and from 08/01/1972 and was in GFYE livery, and it's boiler grille was not plated over. Brian Tucker of this parish photographed the loco on shed at STJ in this livery. https://www.flickr.com/photos/briantrailandmore/8684330538/in/album-72157635910618504/ 7512 in GFYE and 7625 in BFYE livery are seen at Cardiff General, again from the camera of Brian Tucker https://www.flickr.com/photos/briantrailandmore/8684324198/in/album-72157635910263844/ (D)7520 transferred from the LMR to "WR" 08/07/1972, thence Canton from 12/08/1972 arrived in GFYE with 'D' prefixes to the numbers. This loco's boiler grille was not plated over. . (D)7657 was photgraphed at Exeter St. Davids on 11/09/1971 in GSYP. https://www.flickr.com/photos/ashurstdave/2051007144/ Following its later transfer to South Wales, and in BFYE 7657 can be seen here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/briantrailandmore/10071098265/in/album-72157635910263844/ . D7574 was photgraphed at Exeter during 1971 in GFYE and with a 'D' prefix to its numbers. . 7624 transferred from Holbeck to Ebbw Jct October 1970 was in GFYE when transferred but was in BFYE by Feb. 1972, this loco was later transferred to Laira in December 1972. This loco's boiler grille was plated over. . 7625 was also tranferred from Holbeck to Ebbw Jct. at the same time, and was also in GFYE. This loco's boiler grille was not plated over. . I know not all of these are 'West Country' locos, but reference to reports in the RM, RW and RO of the time show that some of the South Wales locos appeared in the West Country from time to time on crew training and other duties. A few related photos from Brian T's Flickr site are:- 7502 & 5181 both BFYE at Radyr:- https://www.flickr.com/photos/briantrailandmore/8684330538/in/album-72157635910618504/ Brian R
