Mike Boucher
I've done this with HO and N scale, but it takes a lot of effort to pull it of in 12" = 1'... Β The time lapse at about the 4:15 minute mark is pretty cool...
NickBrad
Looks like a fairly major incident, quite a complicated arrangement of tracks going on as well.
Talltim
Nick, there's a web cam at Fostoria, see http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/34681-webcam-at-fostoria-ohio/
Fat Controller
Fascinating to watch- especially the re-railing of the derailed stock.
NickBrad
Followed the link Tim, but unfortunately it's coming up saying the channel has been deleted Β Google maps shows 3 separate flat crossings though, just wish I had a barn to build a model of itΒ
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted June 9, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 9, 2016 Fascinating to watch- especially the re-railing of the derailed stock. Β Agreed - top notch re-railing work - maybe they get plenty of practice?
Talltim
I suspect it's one of the rerailing contractors, RJ Corman or Hulcher or similar. In which case it's their day job. I do love a bit of Sideboom ballet

I do love a bit of Sideboom ballet Β My guess is Corman. Β They're based in Kentucky, not too far from Fostoria all things considered.
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted June 10, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 10, 2016 The webcam went off air five years ago unfortunately. It was at the diamond crossing to the west of the derailment site. FYI the derailment happened on the east to north chord, the first shot is looking east. Talltim
The best cleanup video I've seen was the one in this thread. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/79722-clean-up/ Unfortunately AFAIK it was just live, I've not come across a recording. Glorious NSE
The webcam went off air five years ago unfortunately. It was at the diamond crossing to the west of the derailment site. FYI the derailment happened on the east to north chord, the first shot is looking east. There are still two very good webcams at Fostoria, one pointing each way along the B&O (east-west CSX) route - from one you can view the CSX (B&O) / NS diamond, the other has a distant view of the railfan park and the other two diamonds in the background - unfortunately they aren't free like the original version though. Β http://www.railstream.net/ is the web address. Β The Chesterton free cam is a good one, but the free version has annoying ads that always seem to arrive just at the worst possible moment. (You don't see ads if you pay...)

RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted June 14, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 14, 2016 Looks just likes derailment on Santa Barbara's fiddleyard curves when something snags and someone pulls the train by hand!
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted June 14, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 14, 2016 Looks just likes derailment on Santa Barbara's fiddleyard curves when something snags and someone pulls the train by hand! Indeed, thats what appears to have happened here, a car at the rear of the train snagged or derailed causing the cars on the curve to topple due to pulling forces at a right angle to the snagged car.
