Windjabbers
I assume that the GER has its own style of buffer stops. I can't find my info on them so and suggestions/information would be helpful. Also does anyone make a kit for them in 4mm? Thanks David
MarcD
I know Ragstone models do one in 7mm you could use the picture to make one in 4mm

stewartingram
Somewhere I have a scan of an old MRC with a pic and drawing of GER stops (and also the original mag in the loft). I have built some and posted pics on here. As usual I can't find either at the moment, but will keep looking.... Stewart

34theletterbetweenB&D
It may not have been generally employed, but Bishopsgate yard had what look like cast concrete stop blocks in 'cheese wedge' form. About 8' wide and peaking at about 5' high, side elevation probably a 3/4/5 triangle, with the '4' forming the base; baulk of timber across the buffing face. That's as seen in a couple of 1920s views; the most modern looking items to be seen in the whole yard. Doubtless the GER Society will know more

Chris Higgs
Not useful for you, but I have done two types in 2mm scale and drawings of these can be seen here: http://2mm.org.uk/products/instruction_sheets/pdf1-087_drwg.pdf The first of the two is available as a 3D print on Shapeways done by someone or other in 7mm scale. http://www.shapeways.com/product/B8KDDPTL4/ger-railbuilt-buffer-stop?optionId=1026045 The second one is an early type quite possibly supplied by a contractor but I have at least one photo of this on the Ipswich line. And a real example example surivies at the Buckingham Railway Centre at Quainton Road. An elegant design but probably useless at actually stopping trains! I am aware of at least two other types seen on the GER that I have not modelled. Chris
Windjabbers
Hi David, probably by the end of the summer depending how much other work comes in. Dave Franks. HI Dave, just wondering if you were any closer to producing the GER Bufferstops? Best Wishes David
davefrk
Hi David, sorry but I thought I had contacted everyone who had asked about a GER stopblock, It was announced on the Lanarkshire Models thread on RMweb and was released just a month ago, it has sold out the first batch and half the second batch already but more can be cast at a few days notice (the advantage of doing the casting inhouse). Available with both a timber bufferbeam or the later rail beam. £5.95 for one or £27.50 for a box of five. See the website for details and postage rates. Hope that helps, Dave Franks
