37672
Hi, I'm Kevin from Oxfordshire. After lurking in the shadows around this forum for years, I thought it was time I signed up. I've had an interest in model railways ever since my parents bought be a Hornby freight starter set with motive power in the form of a GWR panier tank. Despite this early introduction to steam, I am a firm modern image modeller. Earlier this year I started to build a new OO fine-scale micro layout built inside an Ikea apa storage box, as I am very space-limited. Being small also increases the chances that I might actually finish this one, unlike my earlier attempts! This forum has really helped motivate me to get started; there are so many great, ispirational layouts on here. So I thought I would share what I have been doing. My layout is called Trethosa and is themed on Cornish china clay operations, set roughly in the period 1987 to 1993 with the possibility of extending this range from the 1970s to the present day. I have a huge soft spot for 37s, 50s and the railfreight red stripe livery, so that will be the period I will focus on. It's still very early days yet, and despite it being such a small space there is lots to do. However, I've started a blog and uploaded a few photos which I will keep updated as I make progress. Cheers, Kevin.

RMweb Premium ELTEL Posted July 2, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 2, 2016 Hi Kevin First a warm welcome to RMweb Like many of us including me it all starts with trains set as a kid in my case a Tri-ang Jinty (that shows my age) 60 plus years later still modelling with the normal interruptions of beer, women, marriage and kids Also like small/micro layouts presently with a few in different scales. Look forward in seeing the layout progress As a a matter of interest what size is the IKEA APA box as I think I have on lurking in the loft.
