Recommended Posts

Hi all i have read about using Isopropyl Alcohol for track and wheel cleaning.

Sent for what i thought was the right stuff from Amazon but on the bottle it reads 99% Isopropyl and no mention of Alcohol.

Have i bought the wrong liquid or will this do the job.

Thanks

Bob

IPA is a type of Alcohol and normally should not contain anything else

It can be just IPA or Isopropyl Alcohol or Isopropanol or even Dimethyl Carbonol. They are all the same thing.

BTW if you want to change the spelling (or anything else in a topic you have started) go back to your first post select "edit" and then "use full editor" .

You will the see the topic title appear again at the top of your post so that you can change it if you wish.

Cheers

Don't drink isopropyl alcohol regardless of purity. It's toxic. Not quite as toxic as methanol or ethylene glycol but still dangerous. Treat all chemicals with respect and take appropriate safety precautions.

The more pure it is the better for cleaning. Avoid products like Haz and Isocol which are only about 70% IPA and will leave a residue on metal.

Cheers

David
