RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted July 3, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 3, 2016 Firstly apologies for the length of this post and the number of questions asked, but I am starting to get bogged down in the mire that is PO Tank Wagon liveries. With the arrival of the Bachmann anchor mount tanks I decided it is probably time for a cull of those currently sitting in the stock and project boxes. I know that the RTR tanks tend to be generic designs, but I am looking to get the liveries right for a period of about 1959-60 in the West Midlands. I haven't included all of the tanks I have as several have been purchased specifically because of finding similar tanks in those liveries in local photos. So let's make a start with the ones I am down to. I remember Esso 35T GLW tanks with coloured plates around 1960 on Fawley traffic, they had the plate on the right and lettering to the left. Would any older tanks have received the liveries below by 1960 (if ever) Coming to Shell Class A tanks, what years was this Shell shaped logo used? Later I remember square Shell and BP logos. When were these introduced? When was grey used instead of silver? Moving on to Shell BP Class B tanks, I have shown four queries on these wagons BP logos with and without white line, Petroleum Board address A numbering Thanks in advance for anyone who can throw light on these for me and others with the same problems.
