cromptonnut
I'm starting to look at a "close approximation" of the Belmond British Pullman set. Found lots of good research already but there's a few things that are eluding me so I wondered if anyone else had done this conversion or has any useful information I haven't yet uncovered. Generator car 6313 - I think a Bachmann 39-179 will be close enough with a renumber but how would I model the grills? Baggage car 11 - it's a brake corridor second according to research but don't think there's anything in that livery available? Mercator (Clan Line support coach) is a Mk 2a BFK but again no prototype to rename? Any assistance gratefully received. This video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIGCT1-YUIw has been incredibly useful to get the names and formations, and this page for more details http://www.kentrail.org.uk/vsoe_british_pullman_fleet_review.htm I know it's not going to be 100% perfect if I'm only renaming Hornby models - but would like to try and get as much as I can right as an 'average modeller'. RMweb Premium Hilux5972 Posted July 15, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 15, 2016 I used the Bachmann 39-179 as the generator coach too. I had some black plastic sheet lying a round and cut strips about 3mm wide into lengths that looked about right to my eyes, roughly the width of a double door. I'm modelling the set using the LNER full brake as the Luggage van. For the support coach I'm just using a BR Mk1 BSK.
