David Bigcheeseplant
Last night we set up all of the club layout projects. We had to hire the additional main hall to fit everything in! ! We had the new boards of the Aylesbury Town (P4) 32 foot by 12, All the front scenic boards of Okehampton (O Gauge) 36 feet, the test track and also Aylesbury LNWR. The photos were taken on my phone and with the light streaming through the windows have not come out too well. . The boards for Aylesbury Town are foam sandwiched with ply, there is no bracing and even with the largest 5 foot by 3 foot six board it is impossible to twist or distort, they are also very light. Joint are held together with flight case latches and patten makers dowels, in fact you can latch three boards together and with two people lift it above your head and the whole assembly stays rigid. There are two ten coach trains on Aylesbury Town and as can be seen these are lost on the layout, The boards where made by one of our members and they are a work of art. The boards are stored in crates which also support the layout, the tresles are just temporary. David
