How do you Convert a MP4 file to play on a standard DVD Player

I have some MP4 format files of British Council Films I wish to transfer to a DVD disc to play on standard DVD players, NOT PC's etc.,

How do you do it, please?

OK - What format am I suppose to be changing to?
It might sound a silly q. but I can't see what a bog standard DVD of a 'film' is formatted in.
I'm getting to old for all this.

I've tried a couple (Mpeg-2 etc.,) but they are not the right ones.

DVD Disk. What software are you using?

I tried iskysoft, but evidently I'm selecting the wrong end file type - I had the impression MPeg-2 was the right one, but it's not working on my DVD player under the telly -  to play on the DVD player under the television (both at home and elsewhere).

The basic assumption to be made is I have no idea where I'm trying to go to, other than convert a couple of MP4 format films to something that will play on the DVD player under the telly.

The irony is a friends son, said 'no problem putting the MP4 files (I had on a stick) into a suitable format ready for the DVD player under the telly'...

OK so a very basic question. Does your DVD player accept DVD+R or DVD-R disks? Older units may not work with them.

In the original link I gave you a few posts back it explains in very simple terms what you need to do in iskysoft:

  1. Install the software and launch
  2. Select Create a New Project
  3. Import the files you want to convert.
  4. Click the Burn Button and select DVD Disk as the format.
