LNER Wagon Identification

Hi chap,

I've been rummaging around in my to-do box and have discovered a pair of the wagon in the photograph below. I've had a look on Paul Bartlett's website, but can't find the correct answer.

I think it is an ex LNER diagram 190 wagon, but I'm not sure.

First of all, what diagram is it?

Secondly, what condition would it have been in circa 1957? (vacuum fitted, or non-vacuum fitted? What coupling type?)

Thirdly, what livery would it have been seen in? (Bauxite for fitted or through piped, or grey unfitted?)

Last of all, what number range would the pair have been part of?

Many thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Nick.

The wagon at the front looks like a recent Bachmann product. Which of the wagons in the photo is the 'other' one?

It is idential to this one, same number and livery.

The pair came in a job lot of other wagons which I purchased on eBay a few months ago. The other wagons in the back ground are all in the process of being upgraded and detailed, although at different stages.

Kind regards,

Nick.

Thank you, good to know. Problem is it is 25 years post my period!

Many thanks though.

Kind regards,

Nick.

Yes but it is a good answer to your questions.

Look in Tatlow, Peter  (2012) LNER Wagons, Volume 4A, LNER Standard Designs. Wild Swan, 158 pages . ISBN 978-1-905184 95 8.

For your period, as it clearly has been built unfitted you can have it either continuing unfit or an early VB conversion started from c1956

Paul
