Chris56057
I've certainly seen photos of Class 37's and 60's hauling steel, thinking particularly about the Margam-Corby turns. A quick search through Flickr will show you further. HTH.
mjkerr
If you want to know the percentage numbers, just add them up from a Platform 5 book of the specific year More than likely going to be Class 37 from 1992 onwards, to free up the Class 87 locos

A quick search through Flickr will show you further. HTH. The steel supply trains to Corby in those days were from Lackenby, 37s to start with (up to about '90), and class 60s after that. Peter Kazmierczak
I agree that Cl.37s played a very important role in moving steel. Just look at the concentration of the class in steel-producing areas at depots such as Canton, Landore, Tinsley, Immingham, Thornaby and Motherwell. GordonC
I wouldn't have expected 26s to haul many steel trains, certainly not on their own or would you be counting them piloting a pair of 37s out of Mossend yard round to ravenscraig? or are you counting them on engineers trains delivering rail?
