British steel trains

Recommended Posts

I've certainly seen photos of Class 37's and 60's hauling steel, thinking particularly about the Margam-Corby turns.

A quick search through Flickr will show you further.

HTH.

The steel supply trains to Corby in those days were from Lackenby, 37s to start with (up to about '90), and class 60s after that.

I wouldn't have expected 26s to haul many steel trains, certainly not on their own or would you be counting them piloting a pair of 37s out of Mossend yard round to ravenscraig?

or are you counting them on engineers trains delivering rail?

Thanks for all comments

Class 56 metals are very rare by haul steel trains?

Class 60 metals and coal are most by haul steel trains in 1990 ?

Not at all, there were certainly some Class 56s assigned to Trainload Metals and carried the logo
