Jon Fitness
Totally random enquiry time! My kitchen units, although fitted back in 2003 are still very presentable except for one door on a cupboard which I have managed to badly damage. Seems a shame to have to replace all the doors just for the sake of one damaged one. The kitchen is/was one of Howdens, the Cadiz range with Arran base units which is a pastel greeny colour. Obviously the range has long gone from Howdens but I wonder if anyone has the same kitchen and either has a spare door or you are maybe removing a kitchen of that design. It's a 400mm cupboard door I'm after, and I've even got the catalogue number- HKD2205. I know it's a long shot but.......anyone? Ta Jon F.
RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted August 2, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 2, 2016 IKEA used to do a very similar one but you would need to match the paint.
34theletterbetweenB&D
Worth a look at the Freecycle Network, and people also flog units they are removing on Ebay.
daftbovine
Could you swap it with another door above the counter and put glass in the frame?
peter220950
This was always the nightmare when I was working for Insurers, as people expected a complete new kitchen! I'm assuming you haven't got a separate utility room with the same units, that's too easy. It's always worth keeping an eye on Ebay, I recently picked up some replacement doors for my daughter's 10 year old kitchen, it's probably a long game, but if you're in no hurry chances are they will come up in a second hand kitchen removal somewhere. If it was fitted with the house when new, go door knocking to your neighbours who might have the same units and be contemplating a new kitchen. Not sure how 'badly damaged' the door is but I've seen some pretty impresive repairs to ceramics, Upvc, laminates, and worktops by the Bath Doctor when I was working for Aviva. The resins and paint finishes available now are very good, it's worth giving them a call to see if they can carry out an invisible repair:- http://thebathdoctor.org/gallery/3055613 Other restoration franchises are available. Peter P.S. Now I'm not likely to have to sort it out it's also worth having a word with your insurers, you might get a new set of replacement doors, it costs nothing to ask them what they will do. Sweeps
Ours is exactly the same style but in white and I've the same problem as you, the coating on the door just above the oven has melted around the bottom and another has split. IKEA do a similar range but it is different - if you find a solution please let me know. I also thought it was the case that Howdens only deal with the trade. I wonder about asking on Facebook, that seems to be the answer to most things these days.
Jon Fitness
Thanks guys, I fitted the kitchen myself and last winter my boiler failed. Sadly an electric heater was in use and was placed too close to a cupboard door. The coating bubbled up and partially separated from the door. I've been looking for ages on eBay and I don't do facebook. I'll try gumtree though ! Cheers JF
RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted August 2, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 2, 2016 Jon, as you are currently singing the praises of In the Greenwood laser cut buildings, could they not make you another door Mike.
Jon Fitness
Jon, as you are currently singing the praises of In the Greenwood laser cut buildings, could they not make you another door Mike. Only in 7mm scale....and I'd have to match the colour myself...
jcm@gwr
There are companies which specialise in replacement kitchen doors, some of them also will do custom doors (ie outside their usual, off the shelf range) and could match your finish/colour, doesn't hurt to ask. Jon Fitness
P.S. Now I'm not likely to have to sort it out it's also worth having a word with your insurers, you might get a new set of replacement doors, it costs nothing to ask them what they will do. I may well do. In the 17 years I've lived in my little hutch, I've never made a claim and the insurance premiums I've been paying would probably have funded a complete new kitchen...twice over... Guest
Might be worth a call to Howdens. I was poking about in the Cromer branch a while back and they had an entire area at the back that was supposedly out of bounds to even tradesmen. Casually asking what it all was, was met with the answer "Old stock, discontinued lines... we never throw anything out unless it's damaged". Although your particular range has been long discontined, something may turn up if Howdens have some sort of centralised stock control system. Then again, it could just be a peculiarity of the Cromer branch. Norfolk 'n all that... Might be worth a try though.

I've a branch near me although a special order was needed 2 years after I fitted the kitchen when it was decided that " a wall cupboard would be nice just there" by SWTSMBO... RMweb Gold Jonboy Posted August 4, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 4, 2016 Your picture looks very similar to the Newport style at dream doors - never used them them personally though. The in-laws have recently had a great success with B&Q colour match for kitchen cupboards.
Guest
This ad was in the logal rag this week. I'm sure there must be other companies outside of Norfolk who can reproduce and colour match a door.
