drbeefy2002
Hi, I am attempting my first coach conversion of a Bachmann Thompson using Southern Pride brass coach sides. I am attempting to create a Thompson Restaurant First and Pantry Third Pair. This is very much a novice attempt, but I'd like to check the roof detail is correct in the instructions as looking for pictures online I've found inconsistency. On the Pantry Third The instructions have the Tank filler over the top of the Pantry area. In some photo's of models it appears to be over the toilet end. In the smoking area the vents appear to be either over the sub-partitions in the sequence torpedo, monsoon, torpedo or over the first 3 of 4 tables in the sequence torpedo, torpedo, monsoon. It would appear that some roofs have been put on one way round and others the other. For example in the excellent and very useful thread http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/64295-wright-writes/page-313 there appear to be 2 consecutive images about a quarter of the way down the page of different modelers versions - showing my dilemma. I have looked online to no avail for an image of an actual coach and the limited books I have do not provide the answer. Any help offered would be appreciated. jwealleans
The basic diagram I have doesn't show roof ventilators, which doesn't help. What is does show, though, are capacities for two water tanks at the Pantry end and another over the toilet, so you'd expect at least two water fillers. Isinglass drawing 279 is probably your best bet as John usually showed modifications where they were applied and indicated dates they were carried out. MikeTrice
Hope you can read this. Dimensions lifted from the GA. Red lines represent partitions. The dimensions are correct however they are not to scale with the drawing just roughly placed.
