St. Simon
Hi, I'm currently trying to devise a sequence for my layout in preparation for the Peterborough Show, as part of this I want some info cards for the public to read about whats going on. I was wandering what do people use a system for holding such cards? I also want to be able to have some way of expanding the sequence later on. I don't want to go high tech with electronic sequences, just a simple card system will do. Simon
RMweb Gold Dunsignalling Posted September 6, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 6, 2016 The innards of a lever-arch file screwed to the control panel usually does the job pretty well. It has plenty of capacity and allows for minor or major sequence changes with little fuss. The difficulty with doing it on the public side is always being able to reach it - much depends on the width of the layout. John
Phil Traxson
Something our club has used, and we copied it from others. Take a ring binder, remove covers, leaving you with the spine and the two rings. Use the spine to attach this to whatever you wish to display it on horizontally. From whichever stationers you bought said binder from, look for packs of index cards with needed holes to fit the rings. Write or print details on index cards and fit on rings as a mini flip chart, cards can be removed or added to later with no problem. Hope this helps(if you can understand my ramblings) Phil T. RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted September 6, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 6, 2016 You could put a sign next to the public set of cards asking them to turn the card sequence to match the number on your operator side set - the back of which would need to be visible. Unicorn1
I've been wondering about using cards for my operating sequence on Bishopscombe, so thanks for posing the question Simon, and to the others who have responded - well done - I'm currently sitting in an office full of er....ring binders! Happy days. Les
