RSS Fetcher
Greetings all. So what is the status of my current collection? To be frank it is a shadow of it's former self. Once upon a time...the start of 2016 to be precise...I had a fairly decent collection, at least by my standards. Sadly due to money worries in the family I was forced to sell my collection, with the exception of 4 locomotives that I simply could not part with. Happily though out of that I managed to get a job that I absolutely love and have begun to rebuild my collection, albeit with an actual focus in mind this time instead of just buying engines that I liked. The first part of my collection are engines that are purely for display: It consists of a Dapol County class "County of Worcester", Bachmann A4 "Silver Fox" and Bachmann USA Donald & Douglas. I purchased the twins purely for the sake of nostalgia. I grew up in the early 90s and had all the original Thomas the Tank Engine episodes on video plus all the books, and that was a huge part of why I love trains so much now. The bulk of my collection is now based around the layout I am currently planning: This lot consists of: SLW Sulzer Type 2/Class 24 (sound) Hornby Rebuilt Royal Scot "Royal Inniskilling Fusilier" (will be renamed to "Welsh Guardsman") Bachmann Jubilee with Fowler tender "Australia" (will be renamed to "Nova Scotia") Bachmann G2A Super D Bachmann 4F with Deely tender (to be modified) Bachmann Wainwright C Class (visitor loco) Bachmann/NRM Midland Compound 1000 Scratchbuilt LNWR Chopper tank (not built by me, I lack any modelling skill!) Also I have a Hornby 2P that is not in my possession at the moment. It is waiting to be modified into a MR 483 class (the 4F will also be modified into a MR 3835 class at the same time). There is one more loco in my collection but I will be showing that in the next blog entry. Almost all of these locos will be renumbered or have crest changes done plus other detailing. It's going to be a LONG process.... I have a list of engines longer than my arm that I would like to get my hands on in the future (finances permitting) such as, but not limited to, the Bachmann Crab, Stanier Mogul, LNWR Coal tank, a Patriot or two and a few more Jubilees. - Alex View the full article
