RRU
Over the past few weeks I have posted photo`s to several topics on RMWeb and they seem to have been well received, so I am considering posting the rest of my rail related pic`s. Is there room on here for another thread of photo`s and is anyone interested in seeing them. Peter

Rivercider
I am always happy to see photos from the 1980s, so post away. There is a long running 1980s Southern Region thread, and a 1980s Scottish Region thread which you could add to. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/544-southern-region-photos-1980s/page-1 http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/429-scottish-region-photos-1980s/page-1 Is there a 1980s thread for the WR LMR and ER? cheers

RRU
Right then, here we go! I am afraid I have not got specific dates or details for them because I did not take any notes at the time. Maybe you chaps can fill in any missing details. My file manager has put them all in alphabetical order so that is how I will post them. The first ones were taken on a visit to an open day at Acton Underground depot and the next door bus depot. Peter
RRU
These were taken on the same day. The first three show a demo of righting a bus using airbags. The last is the skid pan. Peter
eastwestdivide
... The first ones were taken on a visit to an open day at Acton Underground depot and the next door bus depot. (Acton 016) ... RRU
Is that yellow tube train the tunnel "vacuum cleaner" train? I`m sorry I cannot say what it`s purpose is, but it is for use when the line is live as the power car has pickup shoes. I don`t think this train was part of the display. I would like to know what the two globes are for. They look like big ornamental lamps. Notice the track along side. The rails are bolted to what looks like short lengths of angle iron. eastwestdivide
Just realised you can read TCC1 off the side if you click the photo to enlarge, which leads us to Tunnel Cleaning Train 1, as photo'd here https://www.flickr.com/photos/28083135@N06/6919683086 No idea about the globes though. RRU
I also visited an open day at Neasden and so I will post those photo`s now. I have labelled them as Neasden but one or more could be at Acton. It was 30 years ago. Peter

RMweb Premium keefer Posted October 11, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 11, 2016 Me too, just wish I had more pics of my own to share - my use of the family instamatic was usually holidays and special occasions only. Although I did take some fairly boring pics at Glasgow Central in '88/89 (I think the cl.90s were quite new) but I lost them trying to get the film out of the cheapy 35mm camera! RMweb Premium brushman47544 Posted October 11, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 11, 2016 A skinhead on a Norwich? IIRC March had a few in the early 80s but I don't remember them being that common on the BNS-Norwich trains.
eastwestdivide
A skinhead on a Norwich? IIRC March had a few in the early 80s but I don't remember them being that common on the BNS-Norwich trains. I managed to photo a 31/4 skinhead (March) on a BNS-Norwich at Wigston in 1983: and 31111, a skinhead (March?) on parcels at Leicester, 1982. Fairly sure it turned up on the Norwich trains too, before they went over to ETH 31/4s.
RRU
Back to London again this time at Cannon Street. There was some kind of display there, but I just cannot remember what it was. RRU
Carlisle now. The first two grainy shots are of 46229 Duchess of Hamilton waiting to take over a southbound Cumbrian Mountain Pullman. It was carrying the blue ribbons to denote that on the previous run it had set a new record for the shortest time from a stand at Appleby to Ais Gill summit. At the time, the loco had it`s own fan club who travelled with it on every outing and the two Pullmans behind the LNWR support coach are theirs. The main train was made up of 13 Pullmans, so when these other vehicles were added with the loco they made a considerable load. They appeared to be trying to find the loco`s limit at that time, but never did. Even with this load the engine had no problems and could be heard for several miles approaching the summit. The other photo`s were taken in the early 90`s of another Settle and Carlisle trip hauled by 45596 Bahamas and 44767 George Stephenson. 86224 brought the train along the WCML from Euston. These other photo`s were taken at Appleby during the water stop. It was the Saturday before Christmas hence Santa. The weather was appalling, it was raining sideways near the summit.
