So here is the progress so far on my new layout, I have decided on a name, "Taylors End" (named after my 1st born).

The track is now laid and tested, I will be weathering it later this evening, and then ballasting some point during the week, the layout is based on a fictitious preserved line, running mainly steam, I will upload more pics as I progress.

The track is now weathered, I was going to do the ballasting during the week, but the kids are in bed the Mrs is quiet (finally!! Lol) so though I'd spend some more time up the man cave!! Once the glue has set I will start to weather the ballast as it looks way to "new and fresh" for my liking!!

Wish I'd caught this earlier. You'd not be badly advised to stick a cross over in the two longest roads for run-rounds Pete. I'm not adverse to shunt released locos, but you'd add play value at the same time.

Sorry! C6T.

I did consider putting a crossover down the far end, but to be fair I'm not going to be running anything much bigger than 060 panniers etc, I am well known for being very undecisive, so at a later date there could well be a crossover added! :)

Cheers mate! :) I'd love to get it to exhibition standard, but my modelling skills aren't that great!! I try though! This is the 1st layout I've built with high detail in mind, so I'm on a huge learning curve, I'm finding reading others posts on here a massive help for little tips and tricks! :)

So tonight I thought I'd give some wagon weathering a go! It's my 1st time ever weathering wagons so please go easy on me! :) any hints or tips would be much appreciated, the open wagon needs the inside still to be weathered and the buffers on both the open wagon and the break van, I'm pleased with how they've come out for a 1st attempt though! :)

This is my latest idea, I had an old Hornby signal box from the thomas the tank range laying about in the shed, I've cut part of the front wall and one of the end walls out, and I'm planning to model it as if it is being taken down, I need to go hold of some brass rod or small tube to construct some scaffolding around it, and have some workmen etc around it, I think that could make quite a good little feature on the layout
