Hiding a fiddle yard

Hi everyone, I am new here and want to start by saying thank you for having me.

 

Here goes my question...recently at a few exhibitions I have seen fiddle yards hidden by some sort of strips. It looks like bin bags cut up into strips and stuck on the tunnel mouths of fiddle yard entrances/exits.

 

The strips then pertrude like a stage curtain when the train enters and exits.

 

Any idea what this stuff is and what do you all think of it?

Shortliner used non stick baking sheet in the link above. I think other people have used thin plastic from something like rubbish bags, or just paper.

I think it might be bin bags cut into strips.

 

It is more effective if the first few inches of the tunnel can be modelled (a black tube?) and the strips put at the end if that. In the same way if you can extend the scenery beyond over bridge scenic breaks it enhances the effect.

Miniatur Wunderland have something similar to screen the exit from the aeroplane fiddle yard to their airport.
