inglenookfan
Anyone experienced this sort of thing. Earlier this morn i had just finished juicing the car and heard shouts of FIRE MY BIKES ON FIRE. I looked over to the opposite pump and fair enough theres a girl standing by a moped that is on fire and in shock and panic mustve kept her finger on the button as the pump is on fire and so are her arms. Being slightly unhinged i calmly walked into it all to get the moped out of it and another chap got some extinguishers for the pump. All quite spectacular and nothing else got a chance to catch. Just vapour burning and apart from a few bits of melted plastic on the ped and soot all over the shiny bits you wouldnt know. Funny bit was myself and the other chap had to wait around to give details so were standing in the shop. The lady behind the counter asked if i was ok and i said i had started shaking quite a bit and the other chap who had his back to me says, "your not the only one" turns around with his hands out and his hands were close to coming off his arms ) . RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted October 23, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 23, 2016 Glad no one seriously hurt Been a few years but helped get an elderly couple out of a car on fire and it was only afterwards I noticed how much I was shaking The fireman said its the 'adrenaline pumping' and still gets to them after hairy incident. I know they have all the kit and training but still makes you respect them going near fire on a regular basis.
inglenookfan
Its really strange. One minute your walking around with fire all over the place like its nowt more different than choosing a tie then you are like a leaf and cant spell! . I have dealt with a race car fire in the pits once and i was fine after that. Maybe its because the brain expects certain things might happen in some situations and it isnt a shock to the system. Not even light injuries to anyone. The girls bike jacket just had some fuel on it which quickly burnt off the other chap was behind an extinguisher and all i ended up with are some frazzled arm and eyebrow hairs. laurenceb
It would be more surprising if you were not shaking after a massive adrenaline rush. At least you didnt get in your car strait away.
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted October 24, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 24, 2016 Well she was obviously wearing the right gear which saved her from nasty burns even as it burnt off quick. I bet she's glad she paid for a decent jacket even if it is wrecked now.
