RMweb Gold cambo74 Posted October 27, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 27, 2016 Hi All, Have been asked to respray a class 37 into Europhoenix / Rail Operations Group Livery. Has anyone done one or does anyone have an ideas as to what shades of paint are used on the real thing ??? I see Steve @ Railtec does the transfers, so just need a bit or help with the paint colours. Also been asked to do a Harry Needle Class 37 - again, anyone know what colours are available for this ?? I prefer if possible to use either Phoenix Precision Paints or Railmatch .... Cheers in advance Ben
Pete Harvey
Ben Why not just ask Phoenix if have the colours there is a Small chance that they supplied the paint for the real engines? They stared with that then moved in to supplying model companies and then modelers as far as I know.
NickL2008
Hi - there was another topic is this category where someone had sprayed a Europheonix 37, probably a quick search will do the job NL
RMweb Gold ruggedpeak Posted November 17, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 17, 2016 This months issue of Model Rail has an article on transforming 37's and one of the examples is a Europhoenix version. Haven't had a chance to look at the article yet but there's a pic on the cover (image from George Dent's blog) http://georgedentmodelmaker.blogspot.co.uk/
NickL2008
looks good, shame about the round buffers, probably be worth checking out as Im eyeing up the possibility of doing a EuroPheonix 37 NL

Cheers in advance Ben Hi Ben I repainted a ViTrain 37 into 37884 Quite a few photo's of the conversion starting here. The following is from the original spec sheet as used to paint the real 37884: - The main body colour is Railfreight Grey. - The roof is Falcon Grey. - The red is Royal Mail Red. - The underframe and bogie areas are Underframe Black. (I used Matt black) - The bonnets are Matt Black. - The grilles on the bodyside are Gloss Black. (I used Matt black) - The noses are Warning Yellow. I used Pheonix Enamel paints. RMweb Gold cambo74 Posted November 21, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 21, 2016 Many thanks for that - guessed a few correct but the Falcon Grey was the final missing part - many thanks and hope to post my progress up here soon. NickL2008
PHD designs also do the correct nose types for the Bachmann model as well, with the LED Tail lights, not sure if the MU socket is on the right side though: http://www.phd-design-etchings.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=25_28_63&product_id=85 NL
Nick G
PHD designs also do the correct nose types for the Bachmann model as well, with the LED Tail lights, not sure if the MU socket is on the right side though: They are no good for 37884

RMweb Premium newbryford Posted November 23, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 23, 2016 It's not a MU socket on the nose end of 37800/884. (It is however a MU socket - DRS variant of blue star - on the PHD moulding) The socket on 800/884 is for the jumper cable from the translator gear located in the nose of the 37 to operate the brakes on the EMU. (That's why the ROG 37s are dragging round lots of units as they've had the forethought to use loco mounted translator gear instead of translator coaches that involve extra shunting at journey's start and end) Cheers, Mick
NickL2008
They are no good for 37884 Correct style lights, so would of thought so? and yes youre right Mick, I remember seeing that connected up to the 442's they've been moving NL
Nick G
Correct style lights, so would of thought so? No headboard brackets above the head code box. Look at Bachmann class 37692 (there are others) that has the brackets.

It didn't originally have the EMU translator connector. It was fitted later. https://www.flickr.com/photos/rob390029/17173077356/in/photolist-6f4T2R-fFEbNF-DuPK1a-GGscrr-GnTbv1-Ct8NSg-dJtRBH-sawvAC-FkgUFC-p9yam6-prbs8u-dULDVv-pzDqrH-6f4Tbg-Cj45CF-oa4YrA-FVLG1Z-oa4YnC-DgwQ4z-oa4YrW-bNLPHz-GNBrEd-rSUpDM-FU3VAU-d4k155-qeTRTo-7c4hr4-rUtTqD-Ey3hA9-FvX77P-dWGW1f-J414n2-oTpW2z-JAfQLv-oAVtAy-DifBdk-rj8MMC-s2qaJM-scA9yH-rA8yuJ-oX3zaD-oVhaGA-EgJ4Db-HzAeiJ-bUjeeP-rA8KBT-cmMgnU-axuFY1-pZNpnt-EpK42J Cheers, Mick
