RMweb Gold tractionman Posted November 9, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 9, 2016 another month another 'Railway Modeller', looking good: Railway Modeller December 2016 December 2016 – vol 67 No.794 RAILWAY OF THE MONTH Anderby Creek Tony Moss recounts how members of the Coventry MRC created a Lincolnshire ‘might-have-been’ in OO gauge, imagining a rail-served coastal resort. PLAN OF THE MONTH & SCALE DRAWINGS Welney Depot Ian Futers suggests a proposed extension to the famed Wisbech & Upwell Tramway as a layout project, and presents drawings of the standard goods offices. FEATURES New locos for Aldeford Needing some Great Eastern motive power in N gauge, Nigel Thomas teamed up with Tony Massey to have an E4 and J15 3D printed by Chris Ward of CWRailways. Chipping Compton Bob Brown is a devotee of Great Western branch lines, so it comes as no surprise that his 3mm scale terminus reflects that company’s atmosphere. Print and build your own N gauge grain silo Follow Bob Rowlands’ lead and construct an industry for covered hoppers and Polybulks in N. The kit is a free download from the Peco Publications website – click or tap here. Green Lane, Swindon Greg Morse shows how, with some judicious compression, this still-active stub of the erstwhile Highworth branch can provide much freight interest. Skimbleshanks Alison Barker of the Southampton MRS took on and reworked an O-14 layout built by a Twickenham club trio, and referenced a T S Eliot poem in the process. Alstone Quay Terry Robinson built this O-16.5 layout around the premise of two rail-connected harbours, serving a busy fish processing plant and encouraging tourists to boot. Modelling a WW1 tank train Martin Watson scratchbuilt four modified GW Macaws in 4mm scale, and modelled some ‘land ships’ to be loaded onto them for their journey to the Western Front. Talking Points Topical issues from the world of railway modelling. This month, Steve and Rebecca Flynn report on a model railway project in a school environment. Ruan Phil Ottley describes the 4mm scale layout, now in the care of the Plymouth & South East Cornwall MRC, based on a supposed extension of the Helston branch. Docklands Like Railway Noel Dollimore noticed a similarity between some light rail vehicles in his collection of models and the DLR in east London, so built an OO micro-layout around them. Chetcombe When Mike Gibbs moved to the USA, he took his memories of the west country and its diesel hydraulics with him, and built this N gauge layout from them. Albion Estates' locomotives Bill Bateson parades the latest selection of 1:12 scale internal combustion locomotives, constructed for his minimum-gauge estate railway. Shirelands Behind John Fisher’s railway room door lies an extensive four-track main line, set in LMS and BR(M) times, complete with an extensive yard and MPD. RAILWAY MODELLING EXPLORED Building St Aiden's Chris Bunting explains how this OO gauge layout evolved from a train set he received at Christmas. Project of the Month – 21st Century Grange One of the current ‘new-build’ locomotives under construction is a GWR Grange 4-6-0; Craig Tiley shows what it will look like with an OO model. A modeller's scale chart Peter Osborne confronts the traditional mix of imperial and metric measurements in the hobby. REGULARS Comment Opinions and observations across the field of railway modelling. This month, John Rodway asks whether it’s time for the hobby to make itself more ‘visible’. rue_d_etropal
second Thursdays in month always seems to come round quickly, especially as I subscribe to both RM and CM,I know I can then expect CM to drop through door a few days later. According to advert, next issue of RM will have a Wills kit in it(market stall), which for me is more useful than a free DVD.

It would be nice to have a follow up to Wisbech & Upwell with drawing of locos and coaches. I think the many books on the Wisbech & Upwell have been discussed on RMweb before - certainly Peter Paye's Oakwood Press book has drawings of locos and rolling stock.
