Extending the lead on the Gaugemaster HH

It would make me happy if I could plug my HH into a DIN socket on the far end of my baseboard instead of straight into the 100M as it is now.  Is there any reason why I shouldn't make up what amounts to a 2-meter extension lead for that purpose?

 

I have the necessary plug and socket, but can anybody please tell me what sort of cable is suitable and where I might be able to get it by the meter?

The type of cable you want is alarm cable, in the number of conductors you need - probably 4 or 6. It looks like phone cable, except the wires are flexible.

Brimal Components sell 4 core unscreened cable by the metre  http://www.brimal.co.uk/multicore-cable-4-core-7-x-0-22mm-per-1m.html which I have used in the past for extending a controller connection.

Find your nearest Maplin, go in and ask them. They do a 6 core as cheap as 49p per metre, but I suspect it's not very flexible.
