Found this signals dedicated tube wagon. http://gallery6801.f.../p23221377.html and this is a great use of any spare S&T location cabinets. http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/p23221377.html

Chester S&T had their own motley collection of stock - "acquired" over the years, good old Mr St... (if you knew him you know what I mean, if not then you will have to stay in the dark I'm afraid.) - no pictures though :(

But Dave, I do have some pictures. Working with J.S. many times. Can't find the brake vans yet. The LMS blue van and the SR Queen Mary (a nice van to travel in)

S&T trains had variety round here, some to be going on with, more when I find them.

Merfyn.

In the good old days, the S&T department also has some of their own vehicles built new, with codes of WINKLE (a standard plate wagon), PRAWN (a C bolster) and WHITING (a pure GWR type with low fixed wooden sides). There are pictures in some of Dave Larkin's old books from the 1970s.

S&T loads could well include rows of signal heads. Recall a colleague who had been out on nights while replacement signal heads were craned into position, so an S&T crane nearby would look good. Hopefully your efforts will be a little better than his mates' on the night - they dropped one head off the crane, and it fell 20 feet into a scrapyard! As the say in Spain - hacienda that!
