RSS Fetcher
Hi All I have been pondering why people need opinions that are not their own to make descisions for themselves. Is it a confidence thing or what? Personally I haven't exactly been shy in voicing my opinions on the Bachmann class 25 and indeed I have done fairly drastic surgery to mine to get them looking how I want. I wrote this up for Update and I am somewhat flattered that several people have decided to have a go at doing similar to their models. I was very dissapointed when the Bachmann 25 came out and I am equally dissapointed by the Heljan 86 - as a core model needed for my New Street project I would have brought them by the bucket load but I really think I am going to be happier sticking with my Hornby fleet and all of the modification work I need to do to get them how I want them. Thing is - why should what I do matter to anyone else? If YOU like the look of the Heljan 86 and think the idea of rebuilding Hornby ones a waste of time then good for you. I certainly wont criticise anyone for what they like and going their own way and no one else should either. Just because something wont do for me doesn't mean its not the best choice for you. I appreciate that for some they have to rely on opinion as they cant get to a shop and have a look and for those people we need reviews in mags but for the rest of us? Do we really need our opinions given to us? Plenty of people are happy to wait for a review in a mag before deciding what they should or shouldn't buy but given the class 86 - Gareth of trains for you has posted plenty of pics of the model, theres loads of pictures of the real thing out there - we have the info we need to decide for ourselves if we want to buy it or not.
