DIFFLOCK
I wouldn't mind buying some more intermodal stock and noticed that Walthers do a triple car pack of the above. However, it does not appear to have any containers. Their catalogue shows some undecorated 53' containers and perhaps one brand of decorated ones. Anyone know of pre-painted 53' containers, or can I just slap in some shorter ones? Thanks, Diff.

You can use the shorter containers too but try Model Jcn for a good range usually. http://www.modeljunction.info/estore/
Adrian Wintle
Choice of containers depends on your period, area, and traffic. At least in this area (southern Ontario), you almost never see 48' containers any more. Typically they will be 40' and 40' high cube (with some 20') for international traffic, or 53' for North American traffic. You can see trains with both, usually a section of the train with international containers and a different section with the domestic ones (although there will likely be some 40' ones mixed into the domestic traffic, typically - but not always - in the lower position). The 40' containers are frequently seen in 53' well cars. It appears that a fair number of the 48' well cars have been rebuilt into 40' wells (not applicable to your situation, but something to think about if modelling very modern intermodal traffic). There seem to be a fair number of 40' containers available (some on sale) at Walthers, but very few 53' ones. The wells do also run empty at times (sometimes mixed in a train with loaded ones). Glorious NSE
Atlas, Athearn and Intermountain all do suitable ranges of 53' boxes, all should fit the Walthers well car. Athearn's are not listed on Walthers site though. As others have said you don't have to load a 53' box though, the bottom deck will also handle 2x20', 1x40', 1x45' or 1x48' PS - technically it's not a triple car pack either, it's a single freightcar with three drawbar coupled platforms - you'll notice that there is no number on one platform (the middle one) and the other two carry the same number. shortliner
Take care with loading - shorts DO NOT go on top of longs due to the arangement of internal corner loading supports and fittings

Anything 40' or over has the same structural loading points. Adrian
alcoRS1
you see a lot of 40ft (or 2 20ft) on the bottom with 53ft and 48ft riding on top, it is a common practice.
