Fleischmann 400602 (Bavarian 0-4-0T) problem

Recommended Posts

My lovely, tiny Fleischmann four-wheel tank engine has died, which is annoying as it only three or four years old, and has not been run very much.

It stuttered, came to a standstill and is now dead.

I have tried wiggling the DCC blanking plate, being virtually the only bit of the mechanism that is easily accessible.

I have tried phoning Gaugemaster, but as the loco is out of warranty they couldn't really help, as they don't do repairs.

Does anyone have any advice, please, before I bite the bullet and start disconnecting all the delicate pipework that connects the boiler casting to the running plate?

My guess is a dry joint. And that means opening it up of course :-(

I can't see from the service sheet http://www.fleischmann.de/doc/ET/2/DE/400602_201511.pdf exactly how things go together but it does seem like the boiler has to come off to reveal the cabling. Get those tweezers out...
