locoholic
My lovely, tiny Fleischmann four-wheel tank engine has died, which is annoying as it only three or four years old, and has not been run very much. It stuttered, came to a standstill and is now dead. I have tried wiggling the DCC blanking plate, being virtually the only bit of the mechanism that is easily accessible. I have tried phoning Gaugemaster, but as the loco is out of warranty they couldn't really help, as they don't do repairs. Does anyone have any advice, please, before I bite the bullet and start disconnecting all the delicate pipework that connects the boiler casting to the running plate? RMweb Premium readingtype Posted October 27, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 27, 2017 My guess is a dry joint. And that means opening it up of course :-( I can't see from the service sheet http://www.fleischmann.de/doc/ET/2/DE/400602_201511.pdf exactly how things go together but it does seem like the boiler has to come off to reveal the cabling. Get those tweezers out...
dick rowland
Before taking anything apart, check for wheel cleanliness and for anything interfering with the pick ups. Don't be too brutal! A jeweller's eyeglass is a good investment.
