yellowvanman
Hi Chaps, been posting a while on topics on RMweb and been adding pictures in the gallery ect...so now its time I did a layout. After making room in the study downstairs I`ve managed to put a board up , its about 9`X 2`... not large so will have to be careful not to squezze to much in ...I`ve collected bits over a number of years and had a bash at a layout in the loft but due to being either to hot or cold ( and full of junk.!) it did`nt ever come to much so now its downstairs in the study next to the computer it may have a chance, also after seeing the great layouts on here including my brother P.C.Ms "Llanbourne" also others like" Waverley West" and" Leaford" ect..and the superb new models that keep appearing its given me the boost to get something done...As I was out and about taking pics and bashing around the country in the late 80s early 90s this is probably the time period I will do and you can`t beat the old B.R. blue ..May take a while as funds are stretched (like most )..with wife, kids, dog, yellowvan(1979VW) and beer ect..but am hopping to use stuff I have including a 03,33,40,56 and various wagons for now...pics inclosed of board under contruction and some kits I`ve been mucking around with (The kids helped !)..Cheers For now .Y.V.M.. 'CHARD
Good times, welcome to the surreal time-sponge that is layout-building The pub sign is awesome, but I'm not sure I could've got away with the neighbouring vendor!
D9JEF
Yellowvanman, Welcome to layout topics. Good luck with the layout, I hope you manage to achieve something as good as the layouts you have mentioned. What have you got in mind for the track plan? You will now have the challenge of trying to keep your thread on the first page .... I ahven't done much on my laout for a week or so and I am now on page 3. Keep the pictures coming Jeff
P.C.M
Hi Bro, Great to see some progress, the layout already has two of my favourite things, Bun shop and pub, looks like the owner is a bit of a crank not sure about the Dak Daks. Were you going to to come across the window to form a L shape? and is there anything you need bits and peices wise? I have plenty of spares, I could post over. Happy Easter,
yellowvanman
Cheers chaps, I think I will be adding some more metcalfe buildings which will include the brewery !...will have to come up with a suitible name ..Not sure on track plan yet , will have a small yard and depot of some kind and I`m thinking of havin a M.O.D compound with sheds ect...Pete I will need you help in the wiring department at a later stage and the L shape under the window has been scrapped already but have small L shape sweeping around the other wall end just for a couple of tracks to curve onto the main board..cheers Y.V.M...The pub`The Railway`is open all day..rare for the 80s..and has 10 handpumps ,5 in the down stairs bar and another 5 up stairs ... Brush47337
Good to see another new layout "we" can follow from the start - can't go wrong with a bit of Blue and Yellow IMHO. Thanks for sharing Stuart - (up to his elbows in ballast and Glue - and bored.)
yellowvanman
First bit of track down so first train runs..building a brewery at the mo so see how it all fits in depends on how track-plan progresses .....the brewery will of course be rail connected

P.C.M
Hi Keith, I was going to suggest a brewery, as I know you do like a beer. looks like the 40 is bringing in supplies for the pub thats open all day, will one VEA be enough. Cheers Peter,
yellowvanman
Hi Chaps , Had some time today to finish some more brewery buildings and started to sort out how to place them...pic shows roughly how they might sit , still have to sort the walls and hide the shelf brackets ect with some scenics/backdrop and weather the buildings up a tad...cheers YVM. yellowvanman
Hi, I am now thinking I will make the brewery the main focus of the layout ..instead of cramming it in the corner it will now take up the end 3`of the layout ,with some extra buildings/sheds ect ,heres a rough track plan showing brewery yard and buildings and where a small 2 road depot/servicing point will be. I would like to add a small road bridge over some where and a garage where my nipper can play with his growing fleet of VWs!..of course this whole plan may change.. yellowvanman
another building under construction, a warehouse front for the back wall..
pointstaken
That brewery looks fine. Seeing the state of the door suggests the drivers there are permanently p****d. To complete it, would need a few odds and ends around like barrels etc, but it's coming on well. Dennis
P.C.M
Hi Keith, That warehouse looks great, I think I am going to have to get a Combi I saw one at the weekend and they look quire good. I like you track plan, but was thinking if you can fit in a crossover you could run round a train, it just adds a bit more interest and fun for you. Cheers Peter,
Grimleygrid
Excellent work on the warehouse YVM, especially the doors.
yellowvanman
cheers chaps ...the doors are of the scale-scenes warehouse that you can down load ..with added grunge.
yellowvanman
Hi ,been building some more bits using odds and ends, lots still to do on the buildings ( the close up pics show all the dodgy bits!)...need to aquire some greenery and some sort of ballast but so far happy with the look, may be a little to crusty ??.. yellowvanman
Hi , Havent updated for a while because nowt done !...have now changed mind and want a station ( only 4 coaches+Loco )..can be unit replacement so can have 2 + loco ect...To fit more in i`m going to build a tunnel/bridge so can place buildings and road on top and track can disappear into a very small 2 road fiddle yard..the Brewery is still there with just one siding entering shed .pics will be posted soon, funny how havin a look on here seeing other layouts ect gets you back in the mood ..cheers YVM:D
P.C.M
Hi yellowvanbro, Great to see you getting back into the layout, I remember you saying back at the begining that you liked the idea of a small station you can't beat a bit of loco hauled. If you still have a spare MK1 I am happy to buy it off you. What other freight are you thinking of doing? Draw up some plans and post them on here, I am sure you will get some good advise ideas etc. Cheers Peter.
CullingworthGNR
Those warehouse buildings (not the Metcalfe ones, the scratchbuilt ones) look excellent. Looks like a very promising little layout, and your photography shows it off well. Keep the updates coming!
