AMJ
Many of the request halts on the Cambrian coast are only one vehicle length and the guard controlls which door is open for getting on or off. The smallest fully featured station is Damens on the Worth Valley has a building and signal box controlling the level crossing for a single coach length platform. Fat Controller
Network rail did paint bright white of junction and modern light by more easy view points ? No; it's to stop the rails being overheated by the sun, and possibly causing point-detection being lost.
