RMweb Gold griffgriff Posted April 11, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 11, 2010 I was unlucky enough to have a couple of Heljan 47'd turn Banana... fingers still crossed... but I was lucky enough to get a couple of replacement chassis from Howes... and I was also lucky to get a couple of cheap bare bodies to replace the ones with dirty great cracks in the corners. I decided that I was a little short of blue locos and settled on 47 299 as she was in 1990 (my modelling era)... no there's an unfortunate loco for you! First up were the crash damaged ends. Now she has entered the paint shop. A touch of white to give that faded look... blended in with some darker shades to give an aged look - then it was transfer time... I used a combination of Fox, Precision Labels transfers and the excellent new decals from Nairnshire Modeling Supplies still a bit to do... radio aerials need adding for a start! ... as well as touching in some over spray... how on earth did blue manage to get on the front steps and head light... there must have been a dozen layers of masking tape over them??? Oh well - they do say that photos are harsh but fair critics

Thanks Precision Labels... they supplied the numbers too but the numerals looked a little on the large size IMHO and I think other numbers in my decal collection looked (and performed) better so I have replaced them - looks much better now. RMweb Gold griffgriff Posted April 20, 2010 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 20, 2010 Thanks for that - will have to sort that out now! I noticed that 'Replica' do some TI names - although I'm not sure they do them all??? - they are a lot cheaper than the 'Precision' decals but they aren't anywhere near as crisp IMHO.
