RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted April 15, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 15, 2010 No prizes other than the admiration of your peers if anyone can guess where this interesting and potentially unique (well it is the only one I have seen anyway) platform edging stone is located. Are there any others around? Would make an interesting feature on a O or larger scale model I think.

Don't be silly I used streetview and wandered along the platform - even had a virtual member of staff telling me I wasn't allowed there
Chameleon
Well I dunno about seeing them on platform edging but we certainly have that embedded in our platforms at Edinburgh Waverley. Platforms 8-9 spring to mind.
eastwestdivide
The company's still going, as Stuarts Industrial Flooring! Founded in 1840. There's a few pics of similar slabs if you do a google image search for stuart's granolithic. None of which narrows down the location much... Someone else photo'd one at Waverley: Edit: what he said, one above me. Edit 2: the comments to that linked flickr photo mention one at Brighton, so maybe Mr Beast was right after all. RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted April 15, 2010 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 15, 2010 Not Hove but certainly closer to Hove than Edinburgh!! Wasn't aware of any such panels at Brighton, at least I haven't seen any during the thousand odd times I have been there so maybe they are over on the Coastway East side where I rarely venture. Coombe Barton
Granolithic = hard wearing fine concrete, usually with granite chips. Main use in the UK is probably supermarket floors.
