Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2Ts in the north-east - where and when?

Hi everyone,

Following on from a question in the 'books' sub-forum, I thought I would also post here with a more specific question:

Where and when did Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2Ts work in the north east of England?

A number of magazine articles and other printed comments state that some of the class did this, however I cannot find any detailed references as to when or where?  Anyone have any answers that they would like to share?

There is a reason for the question; that will become apparent in the layouts sub-forum in a few weeks.

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Regards,

Alex.

Hi again,

Thanks for the responses.

Butler Henderson - were these depots that changed regions as they were reorganised (something I've read of in respect of WR/SR)?

bike2steam - d'oh!  Why didn't I think of that?  I've used BRDatabase on quite a few occasions, but a search like that never occurred to me!

Again, thanks for the input.

Regards,

Alex.

To quote bike2steam in this thread http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/122469-br-regions-clarifications/

After nationalisation the BR regions more or less kept to the post-grouping areas, in 1958 there was a change to more geographical areas. For example former LNER sheds in Lancashire were transferred to the LMR, and exLMS sheds in Yorkshire went to the ER/NER.

Some Ivatt 2 2-6-2Ts got allocated to the likes of Leeds Nevile Hill, York(North) and Malton but I do not think that is the North East you have in mind.

The Br Database aint perfect ( example - 41225 and 41227 didn't go back to Wellingboro' after visiting Nine Elms, but stayed there until withdrawn !!??), but gives you a good idea.
