brack
I think the building it's on dates to about 1920? But I don't know when the big sign was put up. If anyone could help out I'd be grateful.
Irishswissernie
Not on an ariel photo dated 1938 although the Brush name is visible on other buildings. Ernie AKA Dad
runs as required
Interesting post, but I can't offer an exact answer. The look of that 3 centred red pressed brick arch gable window whispers stripped down Marylebone station hotel to me, but I read that Brush began moving up from London's South Bank decades before the 1899 London Extension. You are probably right about the 1920 date of this part of Falcon Works.About the sign: I can recall that a transfer with that particular brand lettering appearing on the interior of Midland Red SOS bus Brush built bodies dating from the mid 1930s that survived into the mid Fifties. So perhaps it was a 'feel good' mid 1930s sign following a slow recovery from the early 1930s slump erected on the factory window.dh edit: the preceding post cancels my 1930s suggestion - more likely post war as all signs would be removed in wartime. How long was that particular logo current? Could be early 1950s the heyday of the postwar export drive Edited September 4, 2018 by runs as required
