BR(W) Tubular Signal post colour

I believe that GWR tubular signal posts were white, and in BR(W) days they wre siver/grey.

 

By 1960, is it probable that most ex-GWR posts would have been re-painted into silver/grey or would

some still be white/repainted white?

Very unlikely to see any white painted ones on the WR by 1960 as the signal painting gang would have been round at least once, and in some places twice, by then.

 

However you would see them painted white in territory taken over by the LMR and, I think but am not certain, in areas under SR control.

Further to my original query, for BR(W) signal posts painted silver/grey, were the ladders also

painted silver/grey and black or would they have been white and black?

 

I am unable to be sure from the colour photos I have to hand.

 

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Yes - but the colours were reversed. i.e whereas the posts had a black section at the bottom and then the rest silver/aluminium the ladders had the bottom section silver/aluminium and then the rest in black.

Thanks Mike, yes I knew they were reversed, it was just the colours I wasn't sure of.
